Dirdam | Reflexiones sobre Madrid

dirdaM | Reflections on Madrid is a research, debate and participation project that problematizes the tourism phenomenon in Madrid.

Jan 2025 — Jun 2025

Dirdam is a platform that maps the tourism phenomenon in Madrid, developed for Vivero de Iniciativas Ciudadanas.

"We want to explore the Right to the City through art and culture, addressing the urban condition from both the outside—the wonderful tourists who choose us to spend their precious time and money—and the inside—the residents and the urban challenges of their daily lives.

The UNWTO states: Cities should consider tourists as 'temporary residents' and ensure that tourism policy promotes the participation of visitors and residents in a holistic and fully integrated way.

Therefore, it is necessary to create a physical space for reflection and joint participation, where we can reflect on the city model, incorporating the dimension of tourism and the challenge it poses for local communities.»

A Vivero de Iniciativas Ciudadanas project with Matadero Madrid, funded by the 2024-2025 Grants for Contemporary Creation and National and International Mobility from the Culture, Leisure and Sport Department of the Madrid City Council.
